“The bands first parade was in Newbuildings,Londonderry in the Easter of 1983, where we were bestowed the honour of leading the band parade hosted by The Pride Of The Orange & Blue Flute Band.
A hurried uniform of purple jumpers and black trousers was put together for the occasion. The band were made very welcome and at the end of the parade in the village green a dedication ceremony took place with Councillor and Deputy Mayor Mrs Anna Hay presenting a silver tray and Dr. rev. Ian Paisley delivering a prayer of dedication to the band. The visit to Londonderry in the height of the troubles gave the members the encouragement to succeed and a commitment to the loyalist cause.
The reputation of the band grew quickly and after a few years parading with Victoria LOL 5 from Townhead District No.3 at the Glasgow Boyne Demonstration the band moved on to become the District Band for Townhead.Thereafter, parading with Sons of Conquerors LOL 162, then Star of Faith LOL 268 from Possilpark District No 11 and now currenrly with Hutchesontown True Blues LOL 69 from District No 49.
Greencastle LOL 658 Belfast was the first lodge in Ulster to hire the band for the Annual Boyne Celebration and many friendships between the band and the lodge were made. However after 10 years or so the band decided that a change ws needed and sought out lodges in the Sandy Row area. The band were very honoured to the lead Ulster Special Constabulary LOL 1970 ( B Specials) on a number of occasions and we now parade with Justice and Truth LOL 1239, again with whom we have formed some very strong friendships.
The Mitchelburne Club of the Apprentice Boys of Derry, Laurieston and Southside Branch have long been associated with the band and a strong bond exists between us, as does with Ancient Sons of William, Royal Black Preceptory 118, ‘Scotlands First’.
We were dealt a massive blow when The Caley Club suddenly closed its doors in the late ‘ 80′s ‘. The band survived by holding their practices and meetings in schools, homes and public houses until thankfully a suitable let became available in Springburn Orange Halls.”
