Orange Halls Being Targeted

Rutherglen District 20 Statement

The Trustees of both the District & the social club have been made aware of a targeted act of vandalism on our orange halls this morning. We believe this attack is motivated by religious intolerance and have therefore reported it as a religious hate crime to Police Scotland who we will work in full cooperation with and we trust will investigate the vandalism.

We would like to stress that any act of vandalism at any time is wholly unacceptable however to conduct an act of sectarian vandalism at a time when we should all be staying home to protect our NHS and save lives only adds to the disappointment of the situation.

Rutherglen is beautiful as it is and we do not need the minority of idiots to ruin that beauty with their acts of vandalism.

Please report any further sectarian vandalism you may see by telephoning 101 and remember to report as a sectarian hate crime if you believe it to be.

THIS MATTER IS NOW IN THE HANDS OF GRAND LODGE.
THE DISTRICT WILL NOT BE COMMENTING FURTHER ON THIS MATTER.

  1. As usual if this was an attack on a Mosque , Gurdwara , Synogogue , Chapel indeed a meeting place or place of worship of ANY religion bar Protestantism there would be hearty condemnation from all and sundry. BUT because it is an Orange Hall you will hear many say it is deserved due to a perceived misconception about members of all Loyal Organisations .The facts are that if you follow and defend your religion you are deemed to be deeply committed UNLESS you are a protestant when you are accused of bigotry, hatred et al.To be treated in our own land as badly as we are merely to appease certain others will eventually bring home retribution of kind .
