Today the officers and members of the Protestant Boys East Belfast can confirm our annual parade and funday scheduled for 9th May 2020 will not take place.
The decision was not taken lightly. Due to the ongoing Covid19/Coronavirus pandemic, following consultation and being inline with current Government health advice on restricting gatherings of people, self-isolation and social distancing we feel it is the correct decision.
We appreciate our culture and traditions are very much a way of life for the the Marching band movement but like many other bands we all have to show leadership in cancelling or postponing our parades in the interest of the public’s safety.
We want to take this time to applaud the efforts of many bands and lodges across the country who at present continue to serve their local community, raise funds for the NHS and provide safety equipment to various agency’s in need.
We pray that God will protect us through this hard time of which won’t last forever. We look forward to the day we grace the Queens highway again with this sad time firmly behind us.
Stay home, protect the NHS, save lives.
