Statement from Pride of Govan Flute Band

On behalf of the Pride of Govan Flute Band, we would like to pass on our thanks and gratitude to everyone who attended our band parade on Saturday.

From all visiting bands and supporters, your conduct was exemplary. Given the poor choice of words from the Nationalist GCC I believe the PUL Community showed them that ‘These people’ know how to organise our parades and conduct ourselves in a lawful and dignified manner. The respect and decorum shown as we held our service at the Cenotaph was truly humbling and a real credit to the PUL Community.

We would also like to extend our thanks and gratitude to Police Scotland, although high in numbers, they showed a relaxed approach and the officers in charge were very helpful and for the most part, they allowed our own marshals to manage the parade and supporters. With the massive number of supporters in attendance our marshals did a fantastic job.

We believe the statement released on Thursday by the Nationalist GCC was designed to Stoke the flames of hatred towards our PUL Community, aided and abetted by the excessive negative media attention in the hope that there would be trouble on Saturday, well they will need to look elsewhere in their quest to attack our culture as all 4 parades passed without incident. Together we showed how to conduct our parades in a lawful, peaceful and dignified manner.

Special thanks to our chief Marshall George Scott for all his assistance and to the Rutherglen Bluebell FB and Camlachie Loyal Star FB for entertaining us in the hall.
